Medical Emergency

In the event of an accident or illness to an employee or student in your work area that results in an emergency, your immediate concern is the wellbeing of the injured or sick individual(s).

Use the following procedures as a guideline:

Do:

• Speak with the individual(s).
• Remain calm.
• Call Public Safety at 612-381-3328 and give this information:
  • Your name and telephone number.
  • The building, floor, and room number where assistance is needed.
  • Give detailed information concerning the nature of the accident or illness, and the number of people injured.
• Try to keep the person calm until the emergency personnel arrive.

Do Not:

• Move the injured or ill individual(s).
• Approach the scene or individual(s) unless it is safe to do so.
