CRRSA Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II) Information

About CRRSA Act Funding

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) was authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260 to provided money to colleges and universities to distribute for emergency student grants. The purpose of the money is to provide continued financial assistance to students for emergency costs that arise due to coronavirus. This funding is separate from additional financial aid students may receive from Dunwoody College of Technology. On January 16th, 2021 Dunwoody was approved for $652,185 in HEERF II funding intended for distribution to students and can be disbursed over the next 12 months to combat the continuing effects of this pandemic.

Dunwoody acknowledges that it has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement. The Department has assurance that the institution has used the applicable amount of funds designated under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

What Does This Funding Cover?

The following is a list of expenses that can be considered for grant assistance if they were “related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus”:

  • Food
  • Housing
  • Course materials
  • Technology
  • Health care
  • Child care

Eligibility

The total number of students at Dunwoody College of Technology who are eligible for the CRRSA Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II): 1,157

Award Methodology

Dunwoody has adopted the following approach for distributing the $652,185 dollars to our affected students:

Starting the week of April 12th 2021, Dunwoody College of Technology will start disbursing their HEERF II Student portion to eligible students.

Total HEERF II Eligible Students = 1,157

  • Students who have a 2020/2021 EFC of: (0-5711) will receive $1,000 each. Total 388 students=$388,000
  • Students who have a 2020/2021 EFC of: (5712-20,000) will receive $500 each. Total 290 students=$145,000
  • Students who have a 2020/2021 EFC of: (20,000 +) will receive $250 each. Total 291 students=$72,750
  • Students who do not have a 2020/2021 FAFSA on file will receive $246.99 each. Total 188 students=$46,434.12

Total = $652,184.12

As of June 30th, 2021 Dunwoody College of Technology has disbursed their entire HEERF II Student Grant allotment.

Final total = $652,452.18

The included check is from the CRRSA Act—Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II) Emergency Grant.

You have 30 days from the issue date of the check to cash it. If the check is not cashed within 30 days, the check will be canceled and the funds will be returned to the Dunwoody College of Technology CRRSA Act (HEERF II) fund.

The money received through this fund does not need to be repaid. This fund does not impact, nor replace, any financial aid you may currently receive.
