Dunwoody Announces 2023 Faculty & Staff Recognition Awards  

Every year, Dunwoody College of Technology is proud to present several recognition awards to faculty and staff in honor of their accomplishments from the past academic year. These awards recognize some of the many ways faculty and staff have made a difference to the College, its students, and the broader community. 

The following awards and achievements were announced at the All-Employee Celebration on May 23: 

Instructor of the Year 

Each spring the Provost asks students to nominate deserving faculty members for the Instructor of the Year Award. This award is given out annually to an instructor who is committed to the students’ academic success, serves as a professional role model to students and colleagues, aims for academic excellence in curriculum development, and aims for academic excellence in instruction.  

Provost Scott Stallman is proud to announce the following winners of Instructor of the Year for the 2022-2023 academic year: 

Emerging Instructor of the Year 

This award was created this academic year to recognize faculty members within their first three years of teaching. These instructors are committed to the students’ academic success, serves as a professional role model to students and colleagues, aims for academic excellence in curriculum development, and aims for academic excellence in instruction.   

Provost Scott Stallman is proud to announce the following winners of Emerging Instructor of the Year for the 2022-2023 academic year: 

Distinguished Teacher Award 

The Distinguished Teacher Award is given to faculty members who have committed a significant portion of their career to the art of teaching and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to education and lifelong learning. 

This year, three faulty members were presented with the award:  

Dunwoody Outstanding Team Award 

The Outstanding Team Award is given out annually to a cross-departmental team of employees whose work has had a significant impact on the way Dunwoody serves its constituents. 

This year, Dunwoody recognized a group of 18 employees who worked to launch the College’s new Esports program, which now includes teams in four competitive online games.

Outstanding Staff Innovation Award 

The Outstanding Staff Innovation Award is awarded to staff members who demonstrate a commitment to implementing innovative strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, cost savings, customer service, and the inclusive climate of Dunwoody. 

This year’s award was presented to Kathryn Jorgenson, Academic Assistant for the School of Engineering and Robotics & Manufacturing departments.  

Outstanding Academic Innovation Award 

The Outstanding Academic Innovation Award is awarded to faculty members who demonstrate a commitment to implementing innovative instructional strategies in the classroom. 

This year, Dunwoody presented two faculty members with this award:  

William and Kate Dunwoody
Outstanding Service Award 

The William and Kate Dunwoody Outstanding Service Award is given to employees who have consistently performed outstanding work for the College. 

For all of her work taking over as the new Director of the Computer Technology department, the College recognized Julie McFadden with this year’s William and Kate Dunwoody Outstanding Service Award.
