CM Student Association has busy year

The Dunwoody Construction Management Student Association (DCMSA) focused this year on increasing engagement between students and employers through presentations on campus. Companies that presented are currently employing our students and/or actively engaged with the Program Advisory Committee (PAC).

Students learned about companies that are actively hiring Dunwoody graduates and about types of construction management activities, various industry sectors, daily challenges on the job site, and career planning. These events also were a great introduction for student networking with industry and their peers in a professional setting.

DCMSA students:
  • Attended a breakfast meeting hosted by the Minnesota Concrete Council to learn about moisture mitigation planning and remediation for concrete construction.
  • Attended the Dig In! event at the Rosemount UMore, facility hosted by Wells Concrete. During this visit students learned about the production of aggregates, ready mix and precast concrete, and asphalt.
  • Hosted a tour of Molin Concrete Products facilities in Ramsey and Lino Lakes. Students learned about precast concrete production and innovation.

Exciting news came to DCMSA when it received a donation from the Design Build Institute of America ̵̵ Upper Midwest Region, for student travel to a competition/conference.

Students also spent their last meeting identifying the types of projects and industry sectors they would like to learn about in the 2023 ̵ 24 academic year. This will include a mixture of on-campus and field visits to augment the students’ classroom learning.

“The success of student learning is driven by industry engagement and we greatly appreciate all the industry partners that made the last year possible.”
