For Cameron Hinrichs, success has always come from determination and hard work. As the recipient of the Academic Excellence Award in the Construction Project Management program, Hinrichs has proven that dedication truly pays off.
Hinrichs first discovered Dunwoody while searching online for schools that could help him achieve his career goals. The college’s impressive graduation rate, strong job placement rate, and valuable industry connections immediately stood out to him. Those factors made his decision easy.
His choice to pursue Construction Project Management was also clear. Hinrichs has always enjoyed working in and around construction, but he wanted to lean more into the management side of the industry.
One of Hinrichs’ favorite experiences throughout his time at Dunwoody was competing in the 2026 NAHB competition as part of his residential capstone project. The competition mirrored the real construction industry, requiring teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving to create a successful project. It was an unforgettable opportunity for Hinrichs to apply what he had learned in the classroom.
“Cameron is one of those students who is quiet and steady,” said John White, Construction Sciences & Building Technology Instructor. “He stays calm when others do not. He is a student who exemplifies the Dunwoody spirit and philosophy of doing things the right way.”
Winning this Academic Excellence Award is especially meaningful to Hinrichs. “It shows that my work paid off,” he said.
Today, Hinrichs is a Field Engineer with Eastside Builders.
When asked what Dunwoody means to him, Hinrichs said, “It shows me what great education looks like.” And for anyone considering attending, his advice is simple: “It’ll 100% be worth it in the end.”
