Career Fairs Lead to Internships and Jobs

Raul Solorio, B.S. Construction Management, shares how he landed an internship his first semester at Dunwoody

Despite being hesitant, Raul Solorio ’25 attended Dunwoody’s Fall Career Fair during his first semester at Dunwoody. It ended up being a great decision.

“Since the first semester, instructors encourage students to create a resume, write cover letters, and create a LinkedIn account,” he said. This support pushed him to take that first step.

At the fair, he immediately connected with a construction company, Versacon, Inc., that offered him a summer internship, which eventually led to a full-time position.

“After the first semester, I knew all the construction basics, so I felt prepared to do and learn at the internship,” he said. “Because of taking an internship so early and being full-time so early, I could apply everything I was learning in my classes to my job and apply my real-world knowledge to my classes.”

All his hard work paid off and he has already transitioned into a full-time job at another construction company, Ryan Companies. His story is just one example of how Dunwoody’s commitment to connecting students and industry early pays off.
