{"id":767,"date":"2014-03-07T15:20:24","date_gmt":"2014-03-07T21:20:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dunwoody.edu\/blog\/?p=767"},"modified":"2014-03-07T16:11:27","modified_gmt":"2014-03-07T22:11:27","slug":"rdo-integrated-controls-supplies-topcon-equipment-to-surveying-civil-engineering-technology-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2014\/rdo-integrated-controls-supplies-topcon-equipment-to-surveying-civil-engineering-technology-program\/","title":{"rendered":"RDO Integrated Controls supplies Topcon equipment to Surveying &#038; Civil Engineering Technology Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure style=\"width: 224px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/images\/Blog-Topcon-in-class%20.jpg\" width=\"224\" height=\"336\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dunwoody\u2019s Surveying &amp; Civil Engineering Technology students are using state-of-the-art Topcon equipment thanks to RDO Integrated Controls.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Dunwoody\u2019s Surveying &amp; Civil Engineering Technology students are using state-of-the-art Topcon equipment thanks to RDO Integrated Controls.<\/p>\n<p>RDO Integrated Controls provided the program with four Topcon HiPer SR GNSS receivers and Telsa data collectors with Magnet software at a low cost rental for the school year.\u00a0 The HiPer SR is a Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) used to measure and layout precise locations on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe previous equipment was older technology&#8211;strictly GPS&#8211;and was not utilizing all of the satellites that are available,\u201d said Surveying &amp; Civil Engineering Technology Principal Instructor Kelly Ness.\u00a0\u201cNow the students are using the latest industry standard equipment.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 240px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/images\/Blog-Topcon-outside.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"360\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">RDO Integrated Controls provided the Surveying &amp; Civil Engineering program with four Topcon HiPer SR GNSS receivers and Telsa data collectors with Magnet software at a low cost rental for the school year.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The HiPer SR is able to connect to a network of base Virtual Reference Stations (VRS) that the Minnesota Department\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1.5;\">of Transportation maintains.\u00a0 The VRS enables students to achieve centimeter level positioning without a local base station.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ness said industry partnerships and donations are appreciated and ensure that graduates are familiar with the newest industry technology when they enter the surveying and civil engineering workforce.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the Surveying &amp; Civil Engineering Technology program, go to <a href=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/construction\/surveying-civil-engineering-technology\/\">http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/construction\/surveying-civil-engineering-technology\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dunwoody\u2019s Surveying &amp; Civil Engineering Technology students are using state-of-the-art Topcon equipment thanks to RDO Integrated Controls.
