Dunwoody College joins VEIT<\/a>
in co-hosting opening day activity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The opening session of this year\u2019s Women in Construction Week<\/a> will be a chance for students and young professionals to connect with leaders in the field. The networking event will kick-off a week dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the contributions of women in the construction field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Women in Construction Week activities are hosted each year by the National Association of Women in Construction, Minneapolis\/St. Paul, in partnership with industry and organization sponsors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s opening ceremony and will be held both virtually and in-person from 7:30-9 a.m. on Monday, March 7 at Dunwoody College of Technology<\/a>, 818 Dunwoody Blvd., Minneapolis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInstead of the usual keynote speaker, we wanted to find a way to create meaningful engagement for women in the industry,\u201d said Heather Gay, Program Director for Construction Management and Surveying at Dunwoody College. \u201cOur role as experienced professionals goes beyond encouraging more women to enter into the construction field. We also need to help them stay connected, feel supported, and advance in their careers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event is designed to give students and young professionals a chance for a meaningful, quick interaction that will help them connect with professionals in the industry. Registration for the in-person event, and a link to the virtual session are all available online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDunwoody is proud to once again be a part of Women in Construction Week,\u201d said Polly Friendshuh, Dean of Construction Sciences & Building Technology<\/a> at Dunwoody. \u201cAs a college we know the importance of helping more women succeed in these great-paying, high-demand career fields. We have come a long way since I started in the field more than 30 years ago, but women still make up less than 10 percent of the total number of workers. It\u2019s great to have organizations like NAWIC, which are actively working to address that imbalance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
