{"id":6175,"date":"2022-02-10T12:24:21","date_gmt":"2022-02-10T18:24:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/?p=6175"},"modified":"2022-02-10T12:24:21","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T18:24:21","slug":"a-degree-with-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2022\/a-degree-with-options\/","title":{"rendered":"A degree with options"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Design for Manufacturing: 3D Printing student finds a career path with possibilities <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Adiel Contreras-Andrade is beginning his college experience in a program that will allow him move quickly into a career, while keeping his future options open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A student in the <a href=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/manufacturing\/design-for-manufacturing-3d-printing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Design for Manufacturing: 3D Printing<\/a> certificate program at Dunwoody College of Technology, Contreras-Andrade discovered Dunwoody after attending a college fair at Thomas Edison High School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI picked the Design for Manufacturing 3D Printing program because I thought it was going to be the right starting point so that I could find the degree that would fit me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that he\u2019s in the program, Contreras-Andrade is confident he made the right choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI most enjoy that I can take classes that I like,\u201d he said. \u201cI also like the way that the classes are taught. The faculty are always giving us the resources that we need to continue learning.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Exploring future options<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A one-year certificate, graduates of the program can transfer easily into Dunwoody\u2019s two year <a href=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/manufacturing\/engineering-drafting-design\/\">Engineering Drafting &amp; Design<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/manufacturing\/machine-tool-technology\/\">Machine Tool Technology<\/a> associate\u2019s degrees if they want to continue their education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Contreras-Andrade said he wants to work in the field to gain experience after graduating, but eventually he wants to work in the automotive industry on car design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He would also encourage others to explore a technical degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGoing to a technical school allows a person can find what they are interested in doing as a career,\u201d he said. \u201cThey also have connections that can land students jobs after they graduate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aspire Scholarship<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Contreras-Andrade is a recipient of the <a href=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/admission-aid\/scholarships\/aspire-scholarship\/\">Wallin Education Partners Aspire Scholarship<\/a>, which is aimed at giving more college-ready students the ability to pursue their dream of earning a Dunwoody degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cReceiving this scholarship meant a lot to me because continuing my education was important to me, so that I could reach my goals of someday helping to change the world,\u201d he said. \u201cI would like to thank the donors of this scholarship for helping me get one step closer to reaching me goal.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Design for Manufacturing: 3D Printing student finds a career path with possibilities Adiel Contreras-Andrade is beginning his college experience in a program that will allow him move quickly into a career, while keeping his future options open.
