A graduate of Wayzata High School, Kemal Hadley was drawn to\nthe Electrical Construction field because it combined the challenge of problem\nsolving \u2013 with the stability of a skill that will always be in demand. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hadley enrolled at Dunwoody in the Electrical Construction & Maintenance<\/a> program right after high school. A cousin had attended and other family friends and connections recommended the school. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI love electricity,\u201d he said. \u201cNo matter where you live you\nare always going to find work. You\u2019ll always be in demand and it can offer self-employment,\nwhich I\u2019m really striving for.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planning for his future<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Goal oriented, Hadley is already thinking three steps ahead in his career. After graduating this May, he\u2019s hoping to start an apprenticeship at someplace like Hunt Electric, followed by becoming a journeyman electrician, and then a master electrician. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter that, I want to own my own company,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hadley has several family members who are in the\nconstruction field, which inspired him to pursue his own path in the\nfield.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s worth it way more than going through a four year\ncollege,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019d rather be out in the field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Construction Career Pathway Scholarship<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

And receiving the CCP Scholarship<\/a> has made that goal a reality. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t be here without this scholarship,\u201d he said. \u201cThe\nCCP Scholarship has allowed me time to focus on my studies. This scholarship\nhas helped by lowering the cost of college and amount of hours I need to work\nthroughout my studies. Learning from the experience of my mentor has been\nhelpful to know what to expect. My mentor has helped increase my social and\nacademic confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hadley has also enjoyed his labs at Dunwoody, since they\ngive him the opportunity to lean and master a new skill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always been someone who enjoys problem solving,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen you work hard for something and figure it out, that feels really good.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
