{"id":5806,"date":"2021-02-24T12:46:25","date_gmt":"2021-02-24T18:46:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/?p=5806"},"modified":"2021-03-04T14:14:57","modified_gmt":"2021-03-04T20:14:57","slug":"online-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2021\/online-programs\/","title":{"rendered":"Dunwoody  Launching Technical Education to National, Online Market"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>Two programs will offer an active approach to online learning<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Beginning in Fall 2021, for the first time in Dunwoody College of Technology\u2019s 107-year history, the school will offer two of its degree programs as <a href=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/online\">online programs<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis past year provided the opportunity for us to develop\nand implement online-learning practices as we adjusted to a new way of\noperating due to the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d said Provost Scott Stallman. \u201cThat opportunity\nhas opened the door for us to reach new students in new areas of the country,\nand we are excited to deliver a Dunwoody education, and the great careers that\nfollow, to students beyond Minnesota.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dunwoody, a non-profit institution of higher education and a leader in technical education, was approved to be a nation-wide provider of online education by the <a href=\"https:\/\/nc-sara.org\/directory\">National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA)<\/a> this past December. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That approval means the College will be able to offer the<a href=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/construction\/construction-management-online\/\"> Bachelor of Science in Construction Management<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/construction\/architecture-online\/\">Bachelor of Architecture<\/a> as online-only options to students from other states, with an initial focus on residents of Iowa, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Kansas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bringing the Dunwoody\nDifference online<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For more than a century, Dunwoody has been the leader in\nhands-on, applied technical education, preparing students for high-skill,\nin-demand career fields. That tradition will continue as the College expands\ninto the online learning space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Online students in the Construction Management and\nArchitecture programs will experience innovative, project-based learning in the\nvirtual space with industry-leading software and technology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both programs will offer flexible, barrier-free, online learning options for current students and working professionals who are interested in taking the next step in their career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Construction\nManagement, B.S.<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/construction\/construction-management-online\/\">Construction Management completion program<\/a> is designed for students and working professional who want the flexibility of an online program that allows them to attend part- or full-time and finish at their own pace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students benefit from small-class sizes taught by faculty\nwho have all worked professionally in a variety of construction fields. In\naddition, students enrolled in the program will receive a laptop with access to\nstate-of-the-industry software. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dunwoody\u2019s Construction Management program helps position\ngraduates for a wide array of managerial roles in the construction industry.\nThis program is specifically geared for transfer students, or graduates from a\ntwo-year, construction-related program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the program, students learn how to successfully\ninfluence and lead production teams, develop projects, and grow businesses.\nStudents will complete real-world service learning projects and work with\nrenowned organizations and industry professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dunwoody maintains strong partnerships with industry leaders\nin the area, and graduates benefit from life-time career placement support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The transfer process is easy and open to all students who have completed an AAS degree in a construction-related field and is accredited by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hlcommission.org\/\">the Higher Learning Commission<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bachelor of\nArchitecture<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The online <a href=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/construction\/architecture-online\/\">Bachelor of Architecture<\/a> degree at Dunwoody College of Technology offers a three year path to becoming a licensed, practicing architect with a capacity to approach the world\u2019s great design challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This unique stackable degree format is the perfect fit for\nthose that want to become a licensed, practicing architect, but need the\nflexibility of an online degree. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students who have either completed, or not quite finished,\ntheir AAS degree in an architectural drafting or related program are eligible\nto transfer into the Bachelor of Architecture program at Dunwoody. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bachelor of Architecture is committed to social and\nenvironmental justice through studio work focused on civic engagement and\nclimate action in communities across the globe. Our distinctive position within\na college of technology gives us access to collaborations across a variety of\ntechnical disciplines. Our students participate in design-build projects, and\nengage in global activism and climate initiatives, from Minneapolis to Puerto\nRico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bachelor of Architecture students receive a dedicated\ntouch-screen laptop with a suite of Autodesk and Adobe programs to be used as\nlong as they are enrolled as students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, practice-based curriculum, professional-focused\nphilosophy, and actively-practicing faculty gives students the ability to work\nin the profession while completing their degree. This can defray the cost of\neducation, make students more valuable earlier in their career, and allow students\nto complete all required experience for licensure prior to graduation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dunwoody\u2019s Bachelor of Architecture is accredited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naab.org\/\">National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)<\/a>.
