The faculty, staff, and students of Dunwoody College of\nTechnology are responding to the COVID-19 global pandemic the only way they know\nhow \u2014 by rolling up their sleeves, getting to work, and adapting to hands-on\nlearning in a hands-off world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe spring of 2020 was unlike anything we had ever\nexperienced before,\u201d President Rich Wagner said. \u201cFaculty and staff mobilized\nquickly to implement hands-on education in a virtual learning environment.\nTheir commitment to our students and their willingness to find new and\ninnovative ways to deliver a high-quality education in an online world is\ntestament to the Dunwoody difference.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n At the same time, Dunwoody began preparing for the start of\nthe fall semester and the return to hands-on activities in our labs, shops, and\nstudios in safe and physically-distanced ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The College is using guidelines from the Minnesota\nDepartment of Health and Centers for Disease Control along with best practices\nfrom other colleges and Minnesota companies that are currently at work or\npreparing to bring their employees back to work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dunwoody\u2019s small class sizes, low student-to-teacher ratios,\nand large lab spaces gives the College the unique ability to restructure its\nphysical environment in ways that will safely allow for hands-on activities in\nsmall group settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are committed to providing a campus experience that will\nexceed all safety requirements to ensure we keep our students and employees\nsafe in the midst of this new normal, while still delivering the high-quality\nDunwoody education we are known for,\u201d Wagner said. \u201cI am so grateful to have a world class group\nof faculty and staff who are committed to student success and who have worked tireless\nhours to provide the best possible education experience in these\ncircumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n All of this work means Dunwoody will be ready for the fall\nsemester starting on August 17, with an education experience that will include:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dunwoody has already implemented new cleaning and\nsanitization procedures, new in-person protocols, and reimagined its learning and\nworking environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Enhanced cleaning and safety measures include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The campus experience will be different as academic\nschedules are adjusted to limit the number of people in a class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe Dunwoody community is certainly living up to its \u2018Born to Do\u2019 motto,\u201d Wagner said. \u201cThey\u2019ve all taken action, decided to do, to prepare and to be ready for what\u2019s on the other side of this crisis. We\u2019ve been in contact with industry leaders from all of our programs. We continue to hear that jobs will be there. Manufacturing, construction, printing, automotive, computers, healthcare, engineering \u2014 all of the programs taught at Dunwoody will be in demand on the other side.
