Dunwoody continues the tradition as\na way of celebrating graduates and launching them into the profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/RAD-TECH-Pinning-07112019-kmh-1.jpg\" alt=\"David Blake, Program Manager for Radiologic Technology, hands Brayden Snow his pin during the Rad Tech Pinning Ceremony.\" class=\"wp-image-4923\" width=\"478\" height=\"305\"\/><figcaption>David Blake, Program Manager for Radiologic Technology, hands Brayden Snow his pin during the Rad Tech Pinning Ceremony.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Since\n2009, Dunwoody has awarded 149 Associate of Applied Science degrees in Radiologic\nTechnology. Two cohorts graduate a year \u2013 one in July and one in December.\nStudents must also pass the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies (AART)\ncertification exam. Each student in the July cohort passed on the first try. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy the time they are done with\nthe program, students will have completed around 1,700 hours [of clinical\nexperience],\u201d David\nBlake, Radiologic Technology Program Manager said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\nlevel of experience is attractive to potential employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/RAD-TECH-Pinning-07112019-kmh-7.jpg\" alt=\"Amber Skelton fixes the arm of Mr. Bones during a class celebration.\" class=\"wp-image-4928\" width=\"322\" height=\"231\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/RAD-TECH-Pinning-07112019-kmh-7.jpg 864w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/RAD-TECH-Pinning-07112019-kmh-7-300x216.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/RAD-TECH-Pinning-07112019-kmh-7-768x552.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 322px) 100vw, 322px\" \/><figcaption>Amber Skelton fixes the arm of Mr. Bones during a class celebration.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>During\ntheir first year of class, students work side-by-side with professionals in\nlocal clinics and hospitals, such as Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital and North\nMemorial Health Hospital. Students work in these settings two days a week,\nincreasing to three days a week during their second year at these locations or one\nof several Allina hospitals and clinics. This allows them to gain experience in\njust about every healthcare setting before graduating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Students recognized with honors<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During\nthe Pinning Ceremony, with family, instructors and administrators watching, several\nRad Tech students were recognized for their accomplishments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dunwoody <\/em><em>Clinical Excellence Award: <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/303129136\">Mariah Rohm<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This award is given to a student who\nexemplifies the ideal behavior in a clinical environment. This student works\nwell with students, staff technologists, and other clinical instructors in their\nclinical setting. The student receiving the Clinical Excellence Award\npersonifies the type of student that Dunwoody and the Radiologic Technology\nProgram would want every student to strive to be in their clinical setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Dunwoody Academic\nExcellence Award: <a href=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2019\/academic-excellence-courtney-holst\/\">Courtney\nHolst<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This award is given to one graduating student\nfrom each of the academic platforms at Dunwoody. The nominees for the award\nhave a high attendance rate and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Other\nconsiderations for the award are based on work ethic, extra-curricular\nparticipation, pursuit of excellence, self-awareness, and leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Best Team Player:\nBrayden Snow<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This award is given to a student who\nexemplifies the meaning of the phrase \u201cteam player.\u201d This student takes it upon\nthemselves to seek out work and help out in all areas in the Radiology\nDepartment and also works well with other students, department technologists,\nand clinical instructors. They are the first person to lend a willing hand when\nhelp is needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Best Patient Care\nAward: Sarah Zehnder<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This award is given to a student who\ndemonstrates superior care to the patients whom they work with during their\nclinical rotations.
