{"id":4475,"date":"2019-03-05T15:45:31","date_gmt":"2019-03-05T21:45:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/?p=4475"},"modified":"2019-04-22T11:59:22","modified_gmt":"2019-04-22T16:59:22","slug":"dunwoody-ties-come-full-circle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2019\/dunwoody-ties-come-full-circle\/","title":{"rendered":"Dunwoody Ties: One supporters relationship with the College comes full circle"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Michele Krolczyk\u2019s connection to Dunwoody started with her father \u2013 and continues to this day<\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Michele Krolczyk remembers driving past Dunwoody College as a child and hearing the story of how her father graduated from the school with a degree in Sheet Metal before embarking on his career in the roofing business.<\/p>\n<p>Krolczyk carried on the tradition with her own children, pointing out their grandfather\u2019s alma mater when driving past the building.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was always a huge sense of pride around attending Dunwoody,\u201d Krolczyk said.<\/p>\n<p>And now her connection to the College runs even deeper.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the universe has a way of connecting all the dots,\u201d Krolczyk said about her journey back to the College her father once attended.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the Alumni Association Board, a donor, and an ardent supporter of the College\u2019s initiatives to increase the number of women entering non-traditional career fields, Krolczyk has become even more involved with Dunwoody during the past few years.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>A Family Business<\/strong><\/h5>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4478\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4478\" style=\"width: 384px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4478\" src=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/M-and-K-Krolczyk-1-300x235.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"384\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/M-and-K-Krolczyk-1-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/M-and-K-Krolczyk-1-768x601.jpg 768w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/M-and-K-Krolczyk-1-1024x801.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 384px) 100vw, 384px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4478\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Michele and Kevin Krolczyk are the third-generation owners of Mint Roofing in Long Lake Minnesota. Michele is also the Principal of Vivid360<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As a third generation owner in the family\u2019s commercial roofing business (originally named Dalbec Roofing), Krolczyk has long been an advocate for women in business. Nearly half of Mint Roofing\u2019s office staff are women, including the Integrator\/Chief Operating Officer.<\/p>\n<p>So when presented with an invitation to speak at the College\u2019s annual Kate Dunwoody Luncheon \u2014 an event established to celebrate and encourage women pursuing technical careers \u2014 Krolczyk was proud to tell her story.<\/p>\n<p>Growing up, Krolczyk often helped out and worked at her parent\u2019s roofing business, learning the ins and outs of a trade mostly dominated by men.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was everything from cleaning trucks to peeling the plastic of sheet metal for a job going out the next day, to answering phones,\u201d she recalls. \u201cIt never occurred to me that women couldn\u2019t do the jobs traditionally held by men.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her husband Kevin started working for the company after he graduated from college, while Krolczyk took a different path and entered the corporate world after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.<\/p>\n<p>But when her parents approached the couple about selling the business, Krolczyk and her husband decided to continue the proud, family tradition.<\/p>\n<p>During her time as co-owner, Krolczyk has worked to grow the business, increasing the company\u2019s revenue nearly five times over.\u00a0 In 2012, Krolczyk and her husband rebranded the company to Mint Roofing to better reflect the company\u2019s image and focus: a sophisticated preventative maintenance program, in addition to traditional roof installations.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Branching Out<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Two-years ago she decided to focus even more of her time helping other businesses and non-profits, by establishing her own consulting business, Vivid360. As an EOS\u00ae (Entrepreneurial Operating System) implementer, she helps businesses of all shapes and sizes build and implement successful strategies for growth and stability.<\/p>\n<p>An avid volunteer, Krolczyk supports women as a mentor and teacher through WomenVenture. She is a past president of the Orono Rotary Club; a devoted mom to three amazing young men; and recently welcomed a granddaughter into the picture. \u201cThat tipped the balance in our family over to the women!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love helping businesses, entrepreneurs, and women,\u201d Krolczyk said. \u201cIn an interesting way, my connection to Dunwoody has come full circle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt makes me feel proud that I\u2019m representing my father in some way,\u201d Krolczyk said about her support and involvement at Dunwoody. \u201cAnd I think it would make both my parents proud to see their daughter supporting women\u2019s initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Michele Krolczyk\u2019s connection to Dunwoody started with her father \u2013 and continues to this day Michele Krolczyk remembers driving past Dunwoody College as a child and hearing the story of how her father graduated from the school with a degree in Sheet Metal before embarking on his career in the roofing business.
