For the next ten weeks, a group of Dunwoody Architecture students will be experiencing architecture in a whole new environment.<\/p>\n

The students are part of the program\u2019s first-ever study abroad program and are traveling to Barcelona, Spain to immerse themselves in design and urbanism.<\/p>\n

An immersive learning experience<\/strong><\/h6>\n

Led by Molly Reichert, Senior Instructor, the students will be staying with host families and continuing their studies at a maker\u2019s space called Atta33.<\/p>\n

To prepare for the trip, the students have been studying the history of Barcelona as it relates to design and recently held an event on campus to celebrate their work.<\/p>\n

In addition to designing and producing a book that encompasses their research and findings, the students also completed a set of D\u00e9rives: an unplanned journey through a landscape, usually urban, in which participants drop their everyday relations and “let themselves be drawn by the attractions of the terrain and the encounters they find there.”<\/p>\n

The students will be using their D\u00e9rives as a way to explore Barcelona during their study abroad trip.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be present in the moment and live life like I live it here,\u201d said Celina Nelson, a fifth-year Bachelor of Architecture student who will be part of the program\u2019s first graduating class this May. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be a tourist.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to taking classes at the maker\u2019s space, the students will also be blogging about their experiences<\/a> as part of the study abroad experience.<\/p>\n
