{"id":2812,"date":"2017-04-11T08:37:43","date_gmt":"2017-04-11T13:37:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dunwoody.edu\/blog\/?p=2812"},"modified":"2017-04-11T08:40:02","modified_gmt":"2017-04-11T13:40:02","slug":"two-dunwoody-students-advance-to-2017-skillsusa-national-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2017\/two-dunwoody-students-advance-to-2017-skillsusa-national-competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Dunwoody students advance to 2017 SkillsUSA National Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><strong>Dunwoody brings home 6 medals in 2017 State Competition.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Architectural Drafting &amp; Design student Eli Abnet and Electrical Construction &amp; Maintenance student Matthew Longendyke are headed to Louisville, Ky., for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skillsusa.org\/events-training\/national-leadership-and-skills-conference\/\">National Leadership and Skills Conference<\/a> (NLSC) thanks to their first place wins at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mnskillsusa.org\/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=36&amp;Itemid=61\">2017 SkillsUSA MN Competition<\/a> earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Abnet won\u00a0the Architecture portion of the competition. Longendyke took first in the Related Technical Math contest.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the two gold medals, Dunwoody students also brought home a 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place medal in Related Technical Math (Andrew Schmitz, Electrical Construction Design &amp; Management), 2<sup>nd<\/sup> place medal in Architecture (Reid Schumacher, Architectural Drafting &amp; Design), and two 3<sup>rd<\/sup> place medals in Collision and Automotive Refinishing (John Spartz, Automotive Collision Repair &amp; Refinishing).<\/p>\n<p>In total, 12 Dunwoody students competed in six different areas in the 2017 competition.<\/p>\n<p>Abnet and Longendyke will join more than 6,000 other technical education students\u2014all state winners\u2014at the National Competition Wednesday, June 21, and Thursday, June
