<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ahrinet.org\/site\/1\/Home\">Air Conditioning, Heating &amp; Refrigeration (AHR) Institute<\/a>\u00a0Expo in Orlando, FL Jan. 23-27.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1754\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1754\" style=\"width: 343px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1754\" src=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/L-to-R-Kristofer-Petrie-Jack-Vaccaro-cropped-300x194.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Kristofer Petriea and Jack Vaccaro at 2016 ASHRAE Winter Conference\" width=\"343\" height=\"222\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/L-to-R-Kristofer-Petrie-Jack-Vaccaro-cropped-300x194.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/L-to-R-Kristofer-Petrie-Jack-Vaccaro-cropped.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 343px) 100vw, 343px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1754\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kristofer Petrie\u00a0and Jack Vaccaro (L to R)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>More than 2,000 manufacturers and 60,000 Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) professionals attend the AHR event each year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ASHRAE Conference, AHR Expo shapes students into valuable employees<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Taft said the annual conference and expo are especially beneficial to students pursuing a career in HVACR.<\/p>\n<p>At the events, Kristofer and Jack were able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in educational presentations, seminars, panels and workshops<\/li>\n<li>Learn how to navigate through everyday HVAC engineering and design issues<\/li>\n<li>Network with industry professionals and ASHRAE YEA (Young Engineers in ASHRAE) members<\/li>\n<li>Hear about the industry\u2019s latest awards, grants and competitions<\/li>\n<li>Examine new HVAC equipment, products and technologies from internationally recognized manufacturers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1755\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1755\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1755 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Orange-County-Convention-Center-cropped-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"While in Orlando, students also toured the Orange County Convention Center\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Orange-County-Convention-Center-cropped-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Orange-County-Convention-Center-cropped.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1755\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">While in Orlando, students also toured the Orange County Convention Center<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhen students have the opportunity to attend these events, they see the reality of where the HVAC industry is, where it\u2019s going, and what they need to do to become sought-out professionals following graduation,\u201d Taft said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe knowledge they gain from experiencing nationally-recognized industry events will make them more valuable employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dunwoody students appreciate learning outside the classroom<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-1756 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Discussion-with-engineering-students-cropped-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Dunwoody students discussing with other engineering students\" width=\"353\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Discussion-with-engineering-students-cropped-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Discussion-with-engineering-students-cropped.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 353px) 100vw, 353px\" \/>Taft said one of the student\u2019s favorite parts of the trip was participating in the various events offered during the ASHRAE Student Program on Jan 24.<\/p>\n<p>Through the program, Kristofer and Jack\u2014who are both members of <a href=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/students\/orgs\/\">Dunwoody\u2019s ASHRAE Student Chapter<\/a>\u2014were introduced to students from other HVAC programs across the country. Taft said his students appreciated learning how other students were also studying HVAC engineering concepts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Learn more<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is the fifth year Dunwoody students have attended the event, thanks to financial assistance from the Minnesota ASHRAE Chapter. In <a href=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2015\/heating-air-conditioning-engineering-technology-students-attend-ashrae-conference-ahr-expo\/\">2015, students traveled to Chicago, IL<\/a> for the conference.
