{"id":1672,"date":"2016-01-08T07:49:31","date_gmt":"2016-01-08T13:49:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dunwoody.edu\/blog\/?p=1672"},"modified":"2016-01-08T08:08:20","modified_gmt":"2016-01-08T14:08:20","slug":"cfma-continues-history-of-dunwoody-giving-awards-construction-management-student-with-scholarship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2016\/cfma-continues-history-of-dunwoody-giving-awards-construction-management-student-with-scholarship\/","title":{"rendered":"CFMA continues history of Dunwoody-giving, awards Construction Management student with scholarship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1675 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Anas-Birthday-cropped-256x300.jpg\" alt=\"Construction Management student and CFMA scholarship winner Justin Brastad \" width=\"256\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Anas-Birthday-cropped-256x300.jpg 256w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Anas-Birthday-cropped.jpg 429w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 256px) 100vw, 256px\" \/>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cfma.org\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA)<\/span><\/a>\u2014a nonprofit organization devoted to enhancing the education of today\u2019s construction financial professionals\u2014has awarded its fourth Dunwoody scholarship to Construction Management student Justin Brastad.<\/p>\n<p>The CFMA has a long history of giving to the College, awarding Dunwoody with multiple student scholarships and a generous endowed scholarship over the last several years.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CFMA\u2019s support goes beyond financial assistance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal of the scholarship program is to promote accounting, finance and management careers in the construction industry,\u201d CFMA Scholarship Chairperson Michael Michelsen said. \u201cIt is our intent to improve the perception of the value and impact that a career in construction can have for both the industry and the individual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The giving doesn\u2019t stop there: members of the CFMA Twin Cities have also joined the College\u2019s Program Advisory Committee; participated in student capstone presentations; and have conducted several presentations to Dunwoody classes, focusing on topics like construction risk management and cash flow management.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scholarship provides tuition relief for Justin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Justin, a Junior this year, says receiving this scholarship means a great deal to him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing a college student and full-time employee is a huge task in itself,\u201d he said. \u201cOn top of that, trying to pay for college and books can be overwhelming. I am very grateful for this scholarship and am honored to have been the one selected to receive it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The award will be put towards Justin\u2019s remaining tuition at Dunwoody. Upon graduation, Justin hopes to become a Construction Estimator.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am on the right path to do so, but have a lot of learning to do,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to continue to grow and see how far I can push myself in industry. Wherever that takes me, I will be happy.
