{"id":1582,"date":"2015-10-29T12:04:12","date_gmt":"2015-10-29T17:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.dunwoody.edu\/blog\/?p=1582"},"modified":"2015-11-04T10:37:37","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T16:37:37","slug":"toyota-donates-additional-4-vehicles-to-dunwoodys-t-ten-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/2015\/toyota-donates-additional-4-vehicles-to-dunwoodys-t-ten-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Toyota donates additional 4 vehicles to Dunwoody\u2019s T-TEN program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Students and faculty from Toyota\u2019s Technician Training &amp; Education Network (T-TEN) program are celebrating Toyota\u2019s recent donation of four new Toyota and Lexus vehicles.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1592 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/IMG_2956.jpg\" alt=\"A photo of a 2015 Toyota Sequoia 4WD; 2007 Tundra 4WD w\/ TRD Supercharger option; 2013 Lexus GS350 RWD; and 2014 Lexus IS250F.\" width=\"500\" height=\"316\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/IMG_2956.jpg 500w, https:\/\/dunwoody.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/IMG_2956-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The newest vehicle additions (from L to R) include a:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2015 Toyota Sequoia 4WD;<\/li>\n<li>2007 Tundra 4WD w\/ TRD Supercharger option;<\/li>\n<li>2013 Lexus GS350 RWD; and<\/li>\n<li>2014\u00a0Lexus IS250F.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Earlier this year, Toyota also supplied the College with a:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2014 Toyota Highlander AWD;<\/li>\n<li>2014 Toyota Camry;<\/li>\n<li>2008 Sequoia\u00a04WD; and<\/li>\n<li>2011 Lexus LX57.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The total donation is valued at approximately $232,000.<\/p>\n<p>However, according to T-TEN Instructor Lee Frisvold, these cars don\u2019t stay pristine for very long; almost immediately after they arrive on Dunwoody\u2019s lot, they are taken apart for training purposes.<\/p>\n<h5>Donated cars help Dunwoody students prepare for their career<\/h5>\n<p>\u201cWe try to make the program as real-world as possible,\u201d said Frisvold. \u201cSo we take the donated cars and we put faults in them. Those faults\u00a0are usually based on whatever is being taught in the class at that time. The students are then expected to be able to diagnose the faults\u2014whether they are electrical issues, such as the car not starting, or problems with the car\u2019s transmission\u2014and then fix them, just as they would while working at a dealership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Frisvold says that because cars can only be disassembled and reassembled\u00a0so many times, Toyota tries to replenish T-TEN\u2019s fleet\u2014in total\u2014every four to five years. This also allows the students to keep up with the latest technologies and newest models.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Learn about the unique features of some of the\u00a0vehicles by viewing the photo gallery below!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents also become very familiar with Toyota and Lexus cars before they start working at a\u00a0dealership,\u201d Frisvold said. \u201cThis makes them much more confident in diagnosing and talking with customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<h5>Dunwoody and Toyota\u2019s partnership continues to thrive<\/h5>\n<p>Dunwoody&#8217;s partnership with Toyota began around 14 years ago, and since then has produced nearly\u00a0100\u00a0\u00a0successful graduates&#8211; with a majority of them still working at the dealership they interned at.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving a partnership with a top manufacturer that cares about the education of future technicians is very important to Dunwoody,\u201d Frisvold said. \u201cToyota has helped us in so many ways, whether it\u2019s through donated cars and tools or simply by creating a sense of a T-TEN community. To this day, they continue to help us keep on the cutting edge of instructional techniques and lab sheet design.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a
