P2C (Pathways To Careers) 2024 is officially underway. Throughout the next several weeks, this group of rising or recently graduated high school seniors will get a preview of what a technical education is all about with hands-on projects in Automotive, Computer Technology, Construction Sciences, Design, Electronics, Engineering, Manufacturing, Robotics, and Surveying. First up: a personalized 3D-printed flashlight. #technicaleducation
Tech is a part of our everyday life, but those devices have to stay charged to be useful. So what if you find yourself in a situation where you need to charge a battery, but there's no electrical outlet in sight? That was the problem Kevin Fitch, recent Electrical Engineering graduate, tackled for his senior capstone project. His solution? He built a wind turbine. #electricalengineering #technicaleducation
Meet Amber Beavens, the 2024 Academic Excellence award winner for Interior Design in the School of Design. Over the next several weeks, we will introduce you to students who have received this honor. Nominated by faculty members, it's an award given to one graduating student from each academic area. The recipients must have earned a 3.0 GPA or higher. Link to story in bio.
Imagine something new, then create it out of something old and unwanted. That is exactly what a handful of School of Design students did recently in their Community Connect class. Partnering with Bridging, a local non-profit that provides furniture and other items to those in need, students took outdated and unwanted items, deconstructed them, then designed and built entirely new pieces from the material. At the end of the semester, they delivered the new pieces back to Bridging. #BornToDo #Design #givingback
Meet Sophie Nystrom, the 2024 Academic Excellence award winner for the Automotive program. Over the next few weeks we will introduce you to students who have received this honor. Nominated by faculty members, it's an award given to one graduating student from each academic area. The recipients must have earned a 3.0 GPA or higher. Read more about Nystrom.
