Introduction

Dunwoody College of Technology (herein referred to as DCT) provides wireless access for personal owned devices.  The wireless network provides users with an internet connection for personal devices that are to be used during the school day.  Access to and use of the network through personal devices shall be compliant with the terms of this agreement.

This agreement sets out the terms and conditions of access to and use of the wireless network access for personal devices (herein referred to as the “Guest Network”), including acceptable and appropriate use and is between you and DCT.  This agreement provides access to the wireless network only.  Students at no time have permission to connect personal owned devices to the local area network (LAN).

Access to the guest network is a privilege.  DCT in its sole discretion may deny Guest Network access at any time.   The Office of Information Technology Operations is responsible for administering and overseeing the campus computer network; however, DCT is not responsible for loss of data or hardware failures that may occur during this process.  Guests are expected to use the wireless access in a legal and responsible manner. By using this wireless access network, the user acknowledges that he/she is subject to, and agrees to abide by all laws, and all state and federal rules and regulations applicable to Internet use. Misuse of the Guest Network may result in the loss of your internet connection privileges, as well as, possible disciplinary and /or legal action.

Security Considerations

Wireless access is by nature an insecure medium.  As with most guest wireless networks, any information being sent or received over the DCT Guest Network could potentially be intercepted by another wireless user. DCT cannot ensure or guarantee the privacy of any information you choose to transmit through the use of the Guest Network. Cautious and informed wireless users should not transmit their credit card information, passwords and any other sensitive personal information while using the DCT Guest Network service.

The Office of Information Technology Operations recommends that wireless access users have up-to-date virus and malware protection on their devices.   Use of this Guest Network connection is entirely at the risk of the user, and the college is not responsible for any loss of information that may arise from the use of the wireless connection, or for any loss, injury, or damages resulting from the use of the wireless connection.
